The death toll of the Kapilvastu violence has reached 28 as police on Wednesday recovered 9 more dead bodies from Devinagar of Bisampur VDC.

According to a report, the dead bodies have been identified as Shovaram Sunar, Thinle Sunar, Hari Basnet, Jhabindra Khanal, Dammar Thapa, Indra Thapa, Ram Bahadur Thapa and a boy Bhunte Kumal.

The death toll might go up as many other locals are still missing. Over 30 persons are still missing from various villages of the district, says a local.

More than 300 people, who were injured in incident, are undergoing treatment at local health posts and clinics of the district.

Meanwhile, Richard Bennett, representative of the UN's Office of the High Commission for Human Rights (OHCHR) visited violence-afflicted areas on Wednesday and appealed government for early relief for the victims.

According to OHCHR, more than one thousand people have flocked across the boarder for safety and other one thousand locals have been displaced due the fear.

To ease the search operation, local administration has released curfew in some parts of the Kapilvastu district for today, except in Chandrauta and the east-west highway.

Normalcy is yet to return in the villages since the violence following the murder of Mohit Khan, a leader of Democratic Madhesi Front and a former leader of anti-Maoist resistance group, on Sunday (September 16) morning in Chandrauta of Kapilvastu district.
