Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industries (FNCCI) has said that 20 days long Terai unrest caused economic loss worth Rs 28.74 billion. After an assessment of the losses, FNCCI also submitted white paper to the government with some demands.

According to FNCCI's white paper, Terai unrest inflicted a loss Rs 2.50 billion on exports and caused Rs 7.45 billion loss on imports.

Similarly, it rendered Rs. 28.74 billion loss in Gross Domestic Product, Rs. 18.64 billion in production, Rs. 5 billion in revenue, Rs. 200 million in transportation, Rs. 4 billion in the value stranded at custom transit points and Calcutta port, and Rs. 6 million loss in demurrage charge.

FNCCI has also sought compensation of the damages from the government. The major demands include compensatory relief to the families of the deceased during the unrest, compensation to the industrialists, entrepreneurs and individuals who suffered loss and 3 months extension for loan payment among others.

It has also asked the government to extend self-assessment and tax submission date for a month and exempt fines otherwise slapped to industries for missing the deadline.

FNCCI also said the government should exempt demurrage charges for consignments that remained stranded at customs yards due to the unrest.
