World Bank has released 514,786 US dollar through its Community Development Carbon Fund to Nepal to be used in biogas support projects.
The Alternative Energy Promotion Centre (AEPC) received the payment for its first delivery of verified emissions reductions to the Community Development Carbon Fund (CDCF) under the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) created by the Kyoto Protocol, said a press release issued by the World Bank.
'Many visionary Nepalese put in years of painstaking work to make this happen today' said a press release quoting Susan Goldmark, World Bank Country Director for Nepal as saying-'In addition to renewable energy sources, hundreds of thousands of rural Nepalese also stand to gain from a wide range of associated benefits in the areas of health, sanitation and agriculture.
