Minister Mahat appeals for foreign investment

Highlighting Nepal’s liberal economic policy, Finance Minister Dr. Ram Sharan Mahat has appealed entrepreneurs of SAARC region to invest in Nepal.

Speaking at the Second SAARC Business Leaders Conclave, jointly organized by SAARC Chamber of commerce and Industry (FICCI) in Mumbai, Minister Mahat made this appeal.

He said that Nepal was being center of attraction to the foreign investors as it was heading towards political, economic and social transformation.

“Nepal is trying to attract investment to maintain high economic growth, generate employment opportunities and minimize poverty in the days to come” he added.

He also claimed that Nepal was one of the liberal, developing nations around that world.

Dr. Mahat also said that economic treaty signed between India and Nepal opened avenues to export Nepali products to Indian market without custom duty.

Stating that European Union and China also recognized Nepali products, Minister Mahat said it encouraged the country to establish productive industries. He also informed that Nepal deserved full potentials of hydropower and tourism.
