Alleging unlawful import of weapons from India by the government, Maoists have called Bandh in Rupandehi, Nawalparasi and Kapilvastu.

Maoists have also called for a one hour ‘Chakka Jam’ in Kathmandu.

According to reports, Maoists had last night took under control two trucks from Butwal’s Jogikuti accusing that weapons were being imported by Arm Police Force (APF).

A team led by the Maoists central leader Devendra Poudel and Bamdev Chhetri intercepted the two trucks that were coming from Sunauli border point.

The APF officials of Jogikuti have said the trucks were carrying goods related to CA polls.

At around 3:30 am on Tuesday morning, Police had forcefully freed the trucks from Maoists.

Due to the shutdown traffic on the highways has come into a halt. Commercial establishments and educational institutions are closed in Butwal, Bhairhawa, Parasi and Taulihawa

Following the police intervention, irate Maoist cadres vandalized six police posts and couple of vehicles in Butwal.
In the meanwhile, talking to journalists in Biratnagar, Chairman Prachanda has asked Home Minister Krishna Prasad Sitaula to clarify about the weapon import.

On the other hand, Home Minister Sitaula said the government will sort out the issue at central level.
