The government has appointed Professor Dr. Bishwambher Pyakuryal and Professor Dr. Parthibeshwar Prasad Timilsina as board members of Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) for a five years tenure.
This decision was taken by the cabinet meeting held last week. The two were appointed after the five-year term of Pradeep Kumar Shrestha, former president of Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry and Dr. Parashar Koirala associated with the faculty of Management of the Tribhuvan University, terminated on January end.
Pyakuryal, Ph.D. in Economics from Tribhuvan University (TU), is a professor of Economics. He also received M.A. in International Affairs majoring in Development Studies from Ohio University, USA and completed post-doctoral research in Economics from the University of Maryland at College Park, in the USA.
Similarly, Dr. Professor Timilsina did Ph.D. in international trade from Moscow State University in 1967 and joined TU the next year and retired in 2003. During his career in the university, he had served as head of department of Economics, dean of Humanities and Social Science faculty, and registrar. He was also a board member of the NRB in mid-eighties.
