The election for the first president of republican Nepal has kicked off on Saturday at the Constituent Assembly (CA) venue, International Conventuion Centre, New Baneshwor, Kathmandu.
Ramraja Prasad Singh, Dr. Rambaran Yadav and Ramprit Paswan are contesting for the post of president of republican of Nepal.
Similarly, Shanta Shrestha, Maan Bahadur Bishwakarma, Asta Laxmi Shakya and Parmananda Jha are the nominees for the post of vice-president.
The CPN-Maoist has proposed pro-republic leader Ramraja Prasad Singh for the post of the president and Shanta Shrestha for vice president's post.
The Nepali Congress has proposed Dr. Rambaran Yadav and Man Bahadur BK for the post of the president and vice president respectively.
Likewise, CPN-UML has proposed its leaders Ramprit Paswan for president and Astha Laxmi Shakya for vice president.
Meanwhile, NC, UML and Madhesi Janadhikar Forum (MJF) have reahced an understanding to share the three key positions - president, vice-president and chair of the CA.
According to the agreement reached between the three parties Saturday morning, UML and MJF have agreed to back NC's presidential candidate Dr. Rambaran Yadav while MJF's Paramananda Jha will get support for the vice presidential slot. Likewise, UML has settled for the chair of the CA.
The result of the first president and the vice president is expected come out at arround 5:00 pm today.
