Diplomatic corps concerned about insecurity in Nepal

The Diplomatic Corps of Nepal is deeply concerned by an upsurge in recent weeks of security incidents that have threatened foreign diplomats or otherwise impeded their work in the country, says a release from US Embassy.

“We condemn any and all attempts to harm, threaten, or intefere with foreign diplomats working in Nepal", the release said. Targeting or threatening diplomats in Nepal on their countries' official business is unacceptable.

The Diplomatic Corps urges all political groups and activists to respect customary norms and reject violence or intimidation. We also remind the Government of Nepal of its role to ensure security and safety for diplomats, the release added. Embassies in agreement with this Statement are Embassy of the United States of America, Embassy of France, Embassy of Germany, Embassy of India, Embassy of Japan, Embassy of Malaysia, Embassy of Pakistan, Embassy of Denmark, Embassy of Israel, Embassy of Australia, Embassy of South Korea, Embassy of Thailand, Embassy of the United Kingdom, Embassy of Bangladesh, Embassy of Finland.
