With a view to push up exports, ‘Nexpo 2007’ trade fair kicked off in Birgunj on Wednesday showcasing a wide range of commodities in more than 200 stalls.
Finance Minister Dr. Ram Sharan Mahat inaugurated the nine days long event. In his inaugural speech, Minister Mahat said that the government was ready to provide land to build export processing zone in Birgunj if the private sector would come up with a proposal for its construction.
The event also intends at providing an appropriate forum for industries, tourism, trade and agricultural sectors to explore market opportunities. The event was originally scheduled to begin from January 19, but was postponed due to the Terai unrest.
The event was jointly organized by Birgunj Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI), Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) amd Ministry of Industries, Commerce and Supplies (MoICS).
