Our economic policy will be liberal and independent: Prachanda

Chairman of CPN- Maoist Prachanda has said his party would adopt mixed economic policy which would be dependent on national resources over foreign capital. He said such policy would 'sweep away' some feudal elites but would promote national capitalists.

Addressing to the mass meeting on Tuesday at Khulamanch (Open Air Theatre) of the capital organized to mark 12th anniversary of the People’s War, Chairman Prachanda said his party would opt progressive land reform that would capture the land of feudal elites without subsidy and provide property to the oppressed poor.

"We will not dictate the industrialists. Our economic policy will be liberal and promote national capitalists" Chairman Prachanda said "So the capitalists who love nation need not to be frightened, we will adopt mixed economic policy."

Chairman Prachand who was addressing to the overwhelmed mass publicly at the first time in the capital, warned of declaring republican set up within mid May if there would be room for postponing Constituent Assembly (CA) polls slated to be held within Mid April.

"The royalists, imperialists and some leaders within the political parties are trying to hatch plot to make CA polls failed but people should declare republican set up if they continue their plan" Prachanda added.

He also claimed that controversial statements made by the acting chief of Nepal Army's Western Divisional Headquarter Dilip SJB Rana about military solutions to the recent Terai unrest were a huge evidence of the same plot.

Chairman Prachand also said some forces were abducted Maoist's slogans of federal republican set up and proportional representation which was a part of the plot. He said the slogans created through people's sacrifice were being stolen.

Making clear to the term 'New Nepal', Prachanda said "New Nepal means to transfer ruler in the state of 'ruled' and replace 'ruled' in ruler's position."

Chairman Prachanda apologized for the mistakes and weaknesses that went on during the CPN-M's decade long armed insurgency. "Specially, I'm extremely sorry to Madi incident that caused death of dozens of individuals and I also promise not to repeat such mistakes" he apologized.

Earlier the same day, Maoist cadres had taken out rallies from different places in Kathmandu including Gangabu, Balaju, Chappal Factory, Swayambhu, Baneshwore, Gaushala, Chabahil, Old Baneshwore, Jawlakhel and Balkhu to garner support for today's address by Prachanda.
