Chitwan Festival from Friday
Chitwan festival, an annual mega event, is to kick off from Friday for the year of 2007.
The festival jointly organized by Narayangarh Chambers of Commerce and Industries (NCCI), Ratna Nagar Municipality, Ratna Nagar Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Chitwan District Development Committee and Bharatpur Municipality has hosted wide range of activities.
Besides showcasing various local products, the notable characteristic of the festival is that organizers have offered a range of entertaining and thrilling sporting events to attract the visitors.
Uday Kumar Shrestha, president of NCCI said that rafting, canoeing and elephant rides would be some of the attractions of the festival and visitors would be also be taken to some new tourist sites in the district.
In the festival, replicas reflecting various indigenous groups' life style, residing in the district such as Tharu, Chepang, Thakali and Newar communities have been set up.
Total 405 different stall shave been set up in the festival which aim at promoting agriculture, education, industry, and information and communication sectors.
The festival to be concluded on 21 January is expected to have footfall of 200,000 people and transactions of over Rs. 70 million.
