As the disputes on garbage disposal saw no way outs despite the negotiations between concerned parties, stinking garbage strewn everywhere on the streets for the last 11 days has worsened environment of the Kathmandu valley and troubling the people.

The garbage could not be disposed as the locals of Sisdol restricted Kathmandu Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) from dumping the garbage stating that they were unconvinced to the commitments expressed by the government.

The locals have been demanding development works in the locality for allowing garbage disposal. Though 10-member-team of locals agreed after the government expressed its commitment to initiate development works, other locals denied the government decision.

A report quoted Executive Chief of KMC Dinesh Thapaliya as saying that the locals refused to let the Corporation dump the garbage though the government had started works on the development projects as demanded by them.

He said the reason could be lack of clear stance on part of the government and the consequent disbelief of the locals.

The locals have been stressing that there might be the room for deception in government’s commitment.

The reports quoted Kumar Simkhada , a local of Chhetradeurali at Dhading district as saying that they were compelled to bar dumping of garbage as government did not show willingness to implement the written agreement.
