Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has announced to impose 30 hours of load shedding weekly starting from Wednesday.
According to the NEA, load shedding will be imposed for five hours for four days, three hours for two days and four hours for a day in the areas that fall under substations from Lamahi to Lahan and Kathmandu to Pokhara.
Reports said that the NEA increased load shedding hours because of closure of some unites of Kulekhani and Marsyangdi projects. The closure of the units will cause loss of 53 MW to the NEA system whereas 60 MW being imported from India has already been stalled as electric poles were damaged by Saptakoshi floods.
Currently, NEA has been imposing load shedding of 17.5 hours a week. Last year, it had imposed 42 hours a week of load shedding during peak dry season. This year, the hours of load shedding have already reached to worse level at the monsoon season.
