The Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC), as the state-owned distributor has increased the prices of diesel and kerosene by three rupees each, citing accrued losses. Both the fuels now onward will cost Rs 58 per liter.
However, the price of petrol remains same at Rs 78 per liter. Prices of LP gas and aviation fuel also remain same.
According to an official at the NOC, the new price will be effective from Tuesday onward. NOC is preparing a
circular about the new prices and will send it to all depots.
Ramesh Koirala, deputy director at the Distribution Department of the NOC said that prices had been revised as the NOC has been incurring loss on diesel and kerosene.
"The Indian Oil Corporation sent its 16 price detail on Monday showing a hiked price," Koirala said.
The supply of fuels, especially petrol, has been hit hard in the Kathmandu valley for last one week. The NOC said that they were not able to bring sufficient petrol in Nepal due to traffic jam in Birgunj – Raxual route. It also
said that the petrol crisis in the Valley will turn to normalcy with in few days.
