As being a part of contributors in fostering national economy, National Insurance Corporation (NIC) needed to be competitive and transparent, speakers have stressed.
Addressing a function in the capital on Friday organized to mark 40th anniversary of NIC on Friday, Finance Secretary Vidhyadhar Mallik said NIC needed to adopt healthy competition and transparent culture as the professional assets.
Stating that the government would not interfere unnecessarily over the autonomy of the Corporation, he instructed NIC to update its audit.
Presenting a report, Chairman of the NIC, Bhoja Raj Sharma said existing insurance market of Nepal required to be strengthened as it had to compete with the international companies after Nepal entered in World Trade Organization (WTO).
Highlighting its role in building national economy, he also informed the Corporation has invested Rs.11 billion so far.
Sharma also said that the Corporation has initiated software development to get its audit computerized stating that the Corporation has realized the need of E-commerce to adapt it in modern era.
On the occasion, Corporation had felicitated and awarded its agents and employee serving more than 25 years.
