Stating that the government could review the report forwarded by Electoral Constituency Delimitation Commission (ECDC), Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala has urged Madheshi legislators to end an obstruction to the parliamentary proceeding.
PM Koirala held discussions with Madheshi legislators Wednesday morning on the resumption of obstructed parliamentary proceeding. Quoting the PM as saying, a legislator who participated in the discussion said that the government would make some adjustments in the report immediately following some legal procedures. The sources said the PM agreed on the formation of the high level commission to probe and assess the damages in Terai movement.
The PM also met with NC Democratic leader Bijaya Kumar Gachhadar and Nepal Sadvawana Party (Anandidevi) leader Hridayesh Tripathi Wednesday morning.
Despite the efforts made by speaker Subash Chandra Nemwang on resumption of the House, the session of the parliament scheduled to begin at 11 am on Wednesday has been adjourned.
Speaker Nemwang had consulted with Madheshi legislators on the resumption of the obstructed House Wednesday morning. Taking into the account the Madheshi legislators' intension of obstructing the House, the session was adjourned yet another time. Speaker Nemwang issued a notice informing that next session of the House would meet on May 24.
Earlier, Sadvawana Party (Anandidevi) leader Rhidayes Tripathi had said that they would obstruct the House on Wednesday too.
Meanwhile, Speaker Subas Nemwang is leaving for New York on Wednesday to take part in a conference on inclusion. In his stay in the United States , Nemwang is also expected to meet with US senators. He will return home on May 23.
