NEFIN has organized banda to pressure the government to start dialogue over the grievances of janajaties (indigenous nationalities).

Similarly, bazaars in Nuwakot district remained closed on Thursday due to the bandh called by Nuwakot Commerce and Industries Association protesting the police intervention in alcohol trade. The association has said the police have been intervening even as the traders have obtained licenses to sell liquor.

Police had to use force to take the situation under control after the protesters staged angry protests in various parts of the district. Reports said some businessmen and police were also injured in scuffles.
