The government on Monday decided to constitute a three member committee to proceed the nationalization process of the property owned by king and royal family.  The meeting of Council of Minister held Monday morning at Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala’s official residence Baluwatar constituted a committee headed by Minister for Physical Planning and Works, Gopal Man Shrestha.

Minister of State for Information and Communication, Dilendra Badu, and Assistant Minister for General Administration, Dharma Nath Prasad Shah, have been designated as members in the committee.

Nationalization of the huge chunk of property owned by king and royal family is an issue among public and interim legislature parliament after king was striped of his power by then revived House of Representative in April. Legislators of interim parliament are pressurizing the government to nationalize royal property.

The cabinet meeting also asserted that the king no longer has the legal authority to deliver a public message.

Deputy Prime Minister Amik Sherchan said the meeting also decided to "respect" the interim legislature-parliament's proposal regarding king's controversial message, and to implement the proposal in a "contextual" manner.

The meeting had approved the understanding reached at Sunday’s ministerial meeting to provide Rs. 50 million per month for the upkeep of the Maoist People’s Liberation Army (PLA) along with a daily allowance of Rs 60 to each PLA combatant.

The cabinet meeting had also decided to start preparations for the resettlement of Maoist victims and other internally displaced persons (IDPs).

In the meeting, Prime Minister Koirala had directed the government’s talk committee headed by minister Mahantha Thakur to immediately start dialogue with agitating Madhesi groups and the Nepal Federation of Indigenous Nationalities (NFIN).
