Rabies makes over 80 people seek in Achham district

Wide spread rabies has infected more than 80 people in the Achham district of far western Nepal. The villagers have not received medical treatment from the government owned health service organizations though the disease has spread as epidermis in the district.

Locals of eastern Achham have been suffering sickness after they consumed milk of rabies infected buffalos.

The number of villagers confronting sickness has reached 83 after more 16 villagers of Turmakhand, Nada and Bhairavstha Village Development Committee suffered the disease. The villagers had consumed the milk of the buffalos bite by rabies infected 'mad dogs'.

The rabies infected people have been deprived form treatment. Following the deprivation of the treatment, the symptoms of rabies have started to be seen among the villagers. Despite the frequent demand for the treatment, the district health office has not sent health workers to the villages stating that all the health workers were not present in the health organizations.

The epidemic that spread over the VDCs after rabies infected 'mad dogs' bite three buffalos before Dashain festival has terrified the villagers. The report said the symptoms is visible as sick people have started discharging saliva and crying.
