The leadership of the Communist Party of Nepal- Maoist (CPN-Maoist) today held talks with visiting representatives of Asian Development Bank (ADB). The ADB officials are learnt to have discussed about the possible extension of development support to the government supposed to be formed in Maoist leadership in future.
A team of ADB led by ADB director Sebastian Paust, the visiting ADB team had held discussions with Maoist leaders led by t Chairman Prachanda. In the meeting, leader Baburam Bhattarai and six head members of ADB central board were present.
A founding member of ADB, Nepal has received an cumulated loan of 2.3 billion U.S. dollars as of December 31, 2007, with an investment grant of 183.9 million dollars and a technical assistance fund of 127.6 million dollars.
The assistance is focused on agriculture, education, water supply and sanitation, transport and communications, finance, energy, and public and private sector governance.
