The Asian Development Bank (ADB) will provide a grant of 25 million dollars to bring the Internet and other forms of information technology to remote areas of Nepal.
Issuing a press statement, ADB said the grant would be used to provide remote regions with wireless broadband networks through public-private partnership arrangements. The grant also aims at establishing a government information and communication technology network and to develop various Internet applications for the government, according to the release.
The mountainous terrain of Nepal presents barriers to sustainable growth and development and the government recognises that information and communication technology is the most effective way to counter such obstacles, the release.
