Seven-party agreements approved

A meeting of the council of ministers held at the Prime Minister's residence Baluwatar today morning approved the 22-point agreements signed by the seven political parties on Sunday.

Sources informed that the government would present the Bill for third amendment of the Interim Constitution before the House today. Though expected much, the cabinet meeting could not find a new date for the polls. 

After the approval of the seven-party agreement from the cabinet, the government is also preparing to form various commissions as well.

Today’s cabinet meeting also discussed the measures to be taken for improving the security situation in Terai and strengthen the Special Task Force (STF) deployed in the Terai districts.

Meanwhile, General Secretary of CPN-UML Madhav Kumar Nepal has said that the Maoists would join the government with new faces.

Speaking to journalists in Biratnagar Airport, Nepal said that new ministers from the Maoists side would join the government after the Prime Minister approves the resignation of the Maoists' ministers.

Stating that that there will be no change in ministers representing the CPN-UML, Nepal  said there was no necessity to change ministers just for three months. 

"The date of the CA polls should be announced in such a way that it could be held within April 6 to April 9, 2008," Nepal said, adding that the agreements reached with Madhesi Janaadhikar Forum would be implemented after the polls.
