Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala on Tuesday, held separate consultations with the British and US ambassadors and discussed the post-election scenario in Nepal.
During the separate meetings held at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar, US ambassador Nancy J Powell and British ambassador Andrew Hall congratulated PM on the successful election to constituent assembly.
On the same occasion, the British ambassador also submitted a letter of British minister for International Development Shahid Malik to PM Koirala, congratulating the latter for the successful polls.
According to reports, the British ambassador has also assured PM Koirala to continue British government's support for Nepal.
Holding nearly half-hour meeting with PM Koirala, US ambassador to Nepal Nancy J Powell congratulated the PM Koirala for holding the CA polls successfully. PM Koirala also thanked the US government for its support in the CA election.
The meetings with ambassadors consulted about the formation of a new government, formulation of a new constitution and implementation of federal republic in the country among other issues, reports said.
Meanwhile, Australia has also welcomed the successful conduction of the CA polls in Nepal.
Issuing a statement on Tuesday, Australian embassy in Nepal said that the success of the elections will construct a solid basis for writing a new constitution and will assist in economic development.
Australia has hoped that the recent success of the CA polls will be a milestone for the ongoing peace process in Nepal. The statement has also urged the party leaders to move ahead for sustainable political stability.
