Cadres of the Janatantrik Terai Mukti Morcha Goit faction last night killed an official of the district education office, Bara, following his abduction.
The JTMM men killed instructor of Gangapur-based Primary Teachers' Training Centre Basu Dev Poudel.
Poudel (50) of Hemja, Kaski, was shot to death after his abduction from his office at Gangapur. His body was found on wheat field at Banjariya in Bara this morning, said Bara District Police Office. Police recovered a magazine of SLR bullets from the site.
JTMM’s district coordinator Birat owned up the killing. “A group of around 10 armed JTMM activists took him under control and shot him to death,” he said.
Meanwhile, The Janatantrik Terai Mukti Morcha Jwala Singh faction attacked a temporary police post at Chetnagar of Rautahat district early this morning.
SP at the Rautahat district police office Yogeshwor Romkhami said over 40 cadres of the JTMM attacked the post at around 1 am.
Assistant sub-inspector of police Purna Bahadur Dhami was seriously injured in the incident, he said. Dhami is undergoing treatment at Narayani Sub-regional hospital in Birgunj.
Only three policemen were present at the police post when the JTMM men attacked it.
The JTMM men fled after a patrol of the police reached the scene. Police have recovered one pistol, two Khukuries and two bullets of SLR. Police also seized four motorcycles used by the JTMM cadres from the site.
While the situation has come to normalcy in the morning, police have intensified search for the persons involved in the attack.
