Life in Bara turns tense

Normal situation in Jitpur of Bara district has turned to tense from today morning due to agitators continued protests in the district.

The irate agitators have set fire to police post in Jitpur Saturday morning. Following the incident, the police fired around 30 rounds of shots in the air and then fired rubber bullets and used several rounds of teargas shells to bring the situation under their control.

More then a dozen demonstrators have been injured. The injured demonstrators were rushed to local health post for medical treatment.

United Madhesi Democratic Front (UDMF)-affiliated cadres demonstrated putting forth their stance to fulfill their 6-point demands before holding the Constituent Assembly (CA) polls.

The indefinite general strike called by the UDMF has affected normal life across Terai region on the fourth consecutive day.
