Bhutanese refugees camped in Khudunabari of Jhapa district in eastern Nepal, are facing acute food shortage.

The refugees submited a memorandum requesting Nepal government to supply the food for the refugees. A delegation of refugees met with Prime Minister Girija Prasd Koirala Sunday morning.

A delegation led by chairman of Bhutanese Movement Steering Committee (BMSC) Tek Nath Rizal met with PM Koirala and discussed on the problems faced by Bhutanese refugees.

The team also discussed on the issues of third country resettlement. Rizal quoted the PM as saying that the Nepal government has given formal approval for third country resettlement.

Rizal further informed that he urged the PM to allow at least a representative from a hut to opt for the option of third country resettlement rather then allowing whole family.
