Nepal seeks permanent solution of Bhutanese refugee problem

Nepal has sought serious role of India and Bhutan in solving Bhutanese refugee problem. Nepali delegation participating 14th summit of South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) in Indian capital, New Delhi talked with the delegates of respective countries in this regard.

According to the reports, Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala, Wednesday morning, held 20 minutes-long bilateral talks with Bhutanese Prime Minister Khandu Wangchuk Dorji about the role of Bhutanese government to solve Bhutanese refugee problem. PM Koirala is learnt to have stressed that Bhutanese should immediately take initiative to solve this problem 'as Bhutan has already adopted democratic system'.

Bhutanese PM Wangchuk had responded to Koirala that Bhutan would be positive to seek permanent solution of the problem.

Minister for Foreign Affairs Sahana Pradhan who is accompanying PM Koirala told that they also talked with Indian Foreign Minister Pranab Mukherjee on India's role in solving the problem of Bhutanese refugee. This time India seems more serious and positive on this issue, the reports said.

Minister Pradhan also informed that ministerial level talks would be held soon to discuss the issue.
