Twin explosions outside BICC

Unidentified persons have detonated two bombs near the southern gate of Birendra International Convention Center (BICC), New Baneshwor, at around 5.30 Monday evening.

According to eyewitnesses, the blasts have not caused any human casualty and damage of property.

Two persons riding a motorcycle hurled the bombs outside the gate and scurried away, said eyewitnesses.

Meanwhile, security has been beefed up at BICC. The blasts come on the eve of the swearing-in ceremony of the Constituent Assembly (CA) members, which is taking place at the BICC tomorrow.

BICC is also the same venue where the first CA meeting is scheduled for May 28.
