Fare Adjustment Committee comprising the representatives of government, entrepreneurs and consumers today submitted the newly adjusted rate of public transportation fare.
General Director of Transportation Management Department Khagendra Mani Pokhrel who heads the committee said the price of the fare was adjusted based on technical aspect and it would be enforced once the government endorses it.
The committee yesterday decided to increase the fare price by 25 to 35 percent following wide pressure from the transportation entrepreneurs.
According to newly suggested fare, passengers will have to pay Rs. 12 in the route less than 5 kilometer and respectively added by Rs. 2.55 per 2 kilometer in mini bus, Rs. 12 for microbus per 5 kilometer, and minimum Rs. 11 for the gas-vehicles.
In Himalaya Region, fare has been hiked by 40 percent. However, Ramesh Lekhak, minister for Labor and Transportation management, said the recommended fare rate might be reviewed.
