A meeting of the council of ministers on Tuesday approved a draft of the supplementary amendment bill to the interim constitution forwarded by major political parties to address the demands of madhesh-based parties.
The draft was prepared by CPN (Maoist), Nepali Congress and CPN (UML) without an agreement of small political parties in Seven Party Alliance (SPA)- Sanyukta Bam Morcha, Janamorcha Nepal and Nepal Workers and peasant party.
In the amendment bill, political parties in coalition government and madhesh-based parties have agreed to incorporate a sentence - the aspirations of the Madhesis including the indigenous and the marginalised groups will be included in the ‘autonomous Terai’.
The leaders have also agreed to manage Nepal Army based-on the principle of inclusive and proportional representation. Government is scheduled to table the supplementary bill at the CA meeting on Tuesday evening.
