A Maoist cadre killed in clash, violence reported in different parts of country
In the threshold of Constituent Assembly (CA) elections, several incidents of violence have been reported throughout the country. A Maoist cadre has been killed in Solukhumbu district in a clash with Nepali Congress activists today.
Maoist affiliated Young Communist League (YCL) district secretariat member Ganga Bahadur Bhujel alias Gajendra was killed after the NC’s youth front Tarun Dal activists opened fire at the Maoists when they were setting up a stage for an election assembly at Sishakhola, claimed the central information bureau of the Maoist.
The Maoists also claimed that dozens of its cadres, including Maoist district secretary Himal, were injured in the firing.
However, the NC claimed that its central member and candidate for the Constituent Assembly election, Bal Bahadur KC, was seriously injured in the attack.
Issuing a press statement, Nepali Congress central office claimed that the Maoists launched a planned attack while the NC activists were participating in a programme organised in Salleri VDC.
In another incident of clash between UML and Maoists cadres, over 16 have been injured in Chyama of Dolakha district. Cadres of the both of the parties have been injured. UML said the clashes ensued after Maoist cadres pelted stones at an electoral gathering organized by the UML at Mahendra higher sedcondary school of Chyama VDC.
