A meeting of the cabinet of ministers Monday decided to construct 1,000 residential quarters in seven cantonments where Maoists’ People’s Liberation Army soldiers have been cantoned.
The cabinet also decided to allocate Rs 120,000 for the construction of each quarter. Each quarter will accommodate 15 soldiers.
According to the sources, the cabinet also approved the Cantonment Management Committee’s Sunday’s decision to provide Rs 3,000 monthly salary to each Maoist soldiers after their verification.
Representatives of the Nepal Army, Ministry of Physival Planning and Construction and Ministry of Local Development will be formed to oversee the construction of the infrastructure in the camps, the source informed.
