The government on Friday has fixed April 10 (Chaitra 28) as the date for constituent assembly (CA) polls to be held in a single phase.
A meeting of the council of ministers fixed the date of the CA polls.
A meeting of Prime Minister and NC leader Girija Prasad Koirala, Maoist Chairman Prahcanda and CPN-UML General Secretary Madhav Kumar Nepal, held in Baluwatar in the morning had decided to declare a fresh date for holding CA polls.
The cabinet meeting also decided to give first priority to the Madhesi officers to take charge of Chief District Officer in 22 Tarai districts to conduct a conducive environment for CA polls.
The cabinet has also decided to send the disqualified Maoist's PLA combatants to home by mid-February.
The CA polls will elect a body that will formally end the 238-year-old institution of Monarchy.
