SAARC Car Rally 2007, a biggest regional event of its kind, observed Lumbini on Sunday in its arrival in Nepal. The rally had entered Nepal from Kakadbhitta via Siliguri on 23rd March for three nights and four days.
Butawal Chamber of Commerce and Industry, West Nepal Bus Entrepreneurs Association, Sidhartha Nagar Chamber of Commerce and Industry, political parties, media people, teachers, students and public welcomed the rally.
On the occasion to welcome the participants of rally, Chairperson of Lumbini Development Trust Majhi Lal Thaten stressed that Lumbini should be the holy center for peace lovers around the around the world. Similarly, Ram Lal Shrestha, Secretary of the Trust informed about the efforts made to develop Lumbini region stressing international community's role in its development.
Coming up to Lumbini, the rally has completed some 4 thousand kilometers of its 8 thousand kilometers long driving. The rally has headed for India via Mahendra highway on Monday.
SAARC Car Rally 2007 is organized with the major objectives to promote regional connectivity, people-to-people contact, goodwill, trade, tourism and business among the member states.
The rally will conclude on 14 April in India.
