Nembang unanimously elected as CA Chairperson

The meeting of the Constituent Assembly (CA) held today has elected UML leader and speaker of the then Interim legislature parliament Subas Chandra Nembang as a Chairperson of the CA.

The CA has endorsed the proposal of CA member Bishnu Paudel to elect Nembang as Chairperson. Nembang was only the candidate to file the nomination for the post.

Meanwhile, newly elected Chairperson Nembang has expressed his commitment to be active in drafting new constitution based on consensus. Nembang was elected from constituency No. 2 of Ilam district in CA election held on April 10.

Today's meeting has also amended the provision regarding the administration of oath of the Chairperson. According to the amendment, president should administer oath to CA chairperson. Next meeting of the CA has been scheduled at 1 pm Sunday.
