Chandi Raj Dhakal, president of Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industries (FNCCI) and the owner of Momento Apparel, is recording his statement today in a charge of tax evasion , media reports say.
“I was busy performing the rituals of the death of my father so I couldn’t appear to record my statements, I will send my statement to the Revenue Investigation Department and if needed I myself will appear to the authorities and record my statement”, reports quoted Dhakal as saying.
On Tuesday, police had failed to arrest Dhakal when a team of police from Soyumbhu had reached to arrest him in his home in Sitapaila in Kathmandu.
Revenue Investigation Department (RID) on Monday had issued an arrest warrant against Dhakal after he defied a number of summons issued by RID to record a statement on tax evasion charges.
RID had written a letter to the police to arrest Dhakal for not presenting himself for interrogations regarding case of revenue evasion through forged documentation.
Dhakal's Memento Apparels has come under the investigation for evasion of revenue amounting to Rs 8.6 million by forging bank guarantee documents.
