The Revenue Investigation Department (RID) has granted bail to FNCCI president and Managing Director of Momento Apparels Chandiraj Dhakal and director of Momento Apparels Tika Raj Dhakal, who had been charged with tax evasion.
According to the Kathmandu Post daily, the bail was set at Rs. 24.5 million. The accused promoters deposited Rs. 8.2 million in cash and three plots of land worth Rs. 16.3 million as bail on Friday.
The RID's decision came after one of the promoters of Momento Apparels Tika Raj Dhakal, brother of FNCCI president Chandi Raj Dhakal, appeared at the department and gave statement on the charges.
The daily quoted spokesperson of the RID Laxman Pokhrel as saying, "We will continue recording their statement on Sunday."
The RID had issued arrest warrant for the company's Managing Director Chandi Raj Dhakal, last Monday after he defied repeated summons of RID in the case of tax evasion.
FNCCI president Dhakal is absconding after the RID issued arrest warrant against him.
