China to increase aid by 50pc to Nepal

After his official visit to China, Foreign Minister Upendra Yadav on Saturday said that China has agreed to increase its annual assistance to Nepal by 50 percent.

According to Yadav, Chinese government agreed to provide 150 Yuan (Rs 1.74 billion) annually. Currently the Chinese aid to Nepal stands at 100 million Yuan. He also said that the China was positive of providing duty-free access to as many as 497 different Nepali export items.

Speaking to journalists upon arrival form China at the Tribhuvan International Airport, Yadav said that China also pledged help for developing Rampur Agriculture Campus in Chitwan into an agriculture university.
Yadav said that the China has shown readiness to help Nepal in infrastructure projects, science and technology and tourism.

Apart from Beijing, FM Yadav visited Hong Kong and Macao, holding high-level parleys with senior officials there on issues concerning Nepali migrant workers.

Yadav informed that the Hong Kong has been asked to grant transit and working visa for Nepali migrant workers. He also visited Indonesia and participated in an international conference on human trafficking.
