Activists of the Chure-Bhawar Ekta Samaj Tuesday morning burnt down two vehicles in Paurai, Rautahat for ‘defying’ their indefinite strike in the Chure Bhawar region.

The activists set ablaze a night bus (Na 2 Kh 1197) and a jeep with an Indian number plate near the Bagmati River.

According to the police, both vehicles have been completely destroyed by the fire.
The agitators have also vandalized a few other vehicles.

Due to the indefinite Chure-Bhanwar region strike announced by the Samaj all long distance traffic on the Terai stretch of the East-West Mahendra Highway has been brought to a complete halt.

Due to the banda, hundreds of passengers have been left in a lurch in various parts of the East-West Mahendra Highway.

The Samaj announced indefinite strike from Monday saying the government failed to address its demands including an ‘autonomous Chure-Bhawar region’, release of its activists arrested last month and investigation into the loss of lives in recent agitations in Terai.
