Joint effort must for lasting peace

CPN-Maoist's chairman Prachanda said the joint effort of all the political parties is must to draw the conclusive result of the peace process.

He also claimed his party to be committed and dedicated to instutionalise and stabilize the peace process in Nepal.

Addressing a conference organized by International Buddhist Federation in Lumbini to mark the 2552th birth anniversary of Lord Buddha, Prachanda said the move of republics and democracy was not backed by any other external forces rather than the overwhelming effort of Nepalese people.

He also expressed his commitment to declare Lumbini as the religious-tourism spot shortly after their government is formed.

Speaking on the occasion, CPN-UML newly appointed General Secretary Jhal Nath Khanal asked the Maoist chairman Prachanda to instruct his cadres to follow the peace process and peace agreements reached in the past .

Another leader Deep Kumar Upadhya of Nepali Congress opined that all the people should accept the ideologies of Lord Buddha in practice to maintain peace in the country.

Coordinator of Madesi People's Right Forum Upendra Yadav said that to establish peace throughout the country, all the exploitations and discriminations should come to end.

Buddhists monks from Nepal and abroad had taken part in the conference.
