All the police personnel who had gone missing following a Maoist attack in a police post in mid-western Banke have come into contact. Armed Police Force (APF) have rescued them.
The Maoists on Monday night had attacked a police post situated at remote Suyiya Police Post of Banke district last night.
Some five hundred Maoist cadres led by Maoists' district leader and district chairman of Madhesi Mukti Morcha Nanda Kishor Pandey had attacked the Suiya police post situated at Katkuiya VDC at around 9 pm yesterday, the District Police Office in Banke said.
The Maoists, armed with guns and household weapons, attacked the police post and set ablaze the police post, the DSP of Banke Pramod Kharel said.
The Maoists also abducted SI Mukesh Kunwar, who was among eight policemen deployed at the police post.
He added that the Maoists looted three rifles and one Chinese pistol from the police post.
He added that whereabouts of five policemen, who are out of contact, and SI Kunwar, who was abducted, is yet to be known.
A team of security forces, Maoists, human rights activists and media personnel left for the incident site today, DSP Kharel said.
