The Centre for Rural Technology Nepal (CRTN) has been selected as one among the ten finalists for the world's leading green energy prize, the Ashden Awards for Sustainable Energy from across the globe.
Former US Vice President Al Gore is going to present the prizes at the awards ceremony to be held at the Royal Geographical Society in London on June 21.
The finalists will be in London next month for the last stage of the judging process, according to a press release issued by the organiser.
The finalist from Nepal will compete with contenders from Bangladesh, China, Ghana, India, Laos, Peru, Philippines and Tanzania, for five awards and more than £200,000 of prize money earmarked to help project expansion and replication in other communities, both locally and nationwide.
The contender from Nepal, CRTN, has focused on improving traditional water mills used for centuries by farming communities in the Himalayas.
