In the wake of calls from foreign diplomats for security and safe movement, the government on Friday said that it would make further arrangement for the safety of the diplomatic corps.
The government made the commitment during an interaction program between ambassadors of various nations and heads of the security agencies at the Foreign Ministry Friday.
Following the stoning of a UN vehicle carrying US envoy James F Moriarty some weeks back, the government had shown interest in providing extra security for the diplomatic community and had called the meeting Friday.
The diplomatic corps of Nepal had expressed concern over "an upsurge" in recent weeks of security incidents that threatened foreign diplomats or impeded their work in the country.
During the meeting, the participants agreed to inform the Home Ministry whenever foreign officials leave on a visit outside the capital.
The meeting was attended by the Home Secretary and heads of the Nepal Police and the Armed Police Force.
