Following the clashes between the police and Maoist cadres, the district administration office (DAO) of Dolkha on Sunday afternoon has imposed curfew order from 5:30 pm-5:00 am Monday in the district headquarters Charikot.
Charikot remained tense Sunday afternoon after the Maoist cadres gathered at the district administration office and started vandalizing the office to press the administration to withdraw a case against a local Maoist leader, Bishal Khadka who was arrested and charged for his involvement in tarring the face of an RPP leader Sundar Prakash Khadka, former District Development Committee (DDC) chairman.
According to reports, the police intervened after the Maoist cadres thrashed Dolkha Chief District Officer (CDO) Uddhav Bahadur Thapa, misbehaved him demanding a public apology from him for arresting the Maoist leader and vandalized the district administration office.
Police opened firing in the air to disperse the mob. Around 5-7 persons have been injured in the resulting clash between the police and Maoist cadres. Police have arrested few Maoist cadres. However the number of injured persons and arrested persons is yet to be verified, said the reports.
The DAO had filed a case against local Maoist leader Bishal Khadka under the Public Security Act last Sunday.
