Elections Commission (EC) has printed 41.2 million ballot papers of 240 types for the Constituent Assembly (CA) elections scheduled for 10 April. The commission has printed 20.4 million ballot papers for the first-past-the-post elections and 20.8 million ballot papers for proportional elections. The numbers of printed ballot papers is some 30 million more than that of the actual number of voters which is 17.6 million.
According to the EC spokesperson Lakshaman Prasad Bhattarai, the EC has already dispatched ballot papers in 178 constituencies and rest will be dispatched within coming Tuesday.
The EC has completed almost preparation for the election, said spokesperson Bhattarai. The EC has estimated the expenditure of 2.73 billion rupees for the elections.
Under the first-post-the-past elections, total 3947 candidates are on the race that includes 3131 from political parties and 816 independent. Kathmandu district is to see the competition of the highest numbers of the candidates with 38 candidacies while Manag will be the district to see the least numbers of candidates with 3 candidacies throughout the country.
