European Commission and the government of Nepal signed an agreement in a bid to restore legal certainty to the bilateral air services agreements between Nepal and EU Member States.
Chargé d' Affaires of Delegations of the European Commission to Nepal Eduardo Lechuga -Jimenez, and Secretary of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Leela Mani Paudyal, signed an agreement paper on behalf of their respective sides to this end today.
“The agreement is an important step towards further strengthening the EU-Nepal aviation relations and will encourage traffic between the EU and Nepal” a press statement issued by EC quoted Lechuga as saying.
The statement further quoted Lechuga, as saying that the agreement would bring several provisions in the 7 bilateral air services agreements between EU Member States and Nepal in line with EU law.
"Most importantly, it will remove nationality restrictions in the bilateral air services agreements between EU Member States and Nepal and thereby allows any EU airline to operate flights between Nepal and any EU Member State where it is established and where a bilateral agreement with Nepal exists and traffic rights are available.” said Chargé d' Affaires of Delegations of the EC.
