The European Union (EU) has launched Election Observation Mission (EOM) to observe the Constituent Assembly (CA) elections scheduled for April 10 in Nepal. The EOM was officially launched in Kathmandu today.
A team of observers will be headed by EU parliament member Jan Mulder.
In la press conference held today, Head of the EOM Jan Mulder said that the political parties and other all stakeholders were responsible to ensure appropriate environment for the polls.
The mission (EOM) has stressed on an atmosphere free of violence and intimidation in the upcoming election to CA. He informed that the mission would mobilize 120 observers to take account of situation for the elections.
The mission will also coordinate with international and domestic organizations working to observe polls. The mission will be observing the activities like poll campaigns, voting process and general environment, according him.
Mulder further said that the mission would make public its preliminary report on its findings right after the CA elections and the final report would be published after two months of the end of electoral process.
