The Election Commission (EC) on Thursday announced the final results of Constituent Assembly (CA) candidates under the Proportional Representation (PR) system.
Organizing a press conference at the EC at Kantipath, Kathmandu, Chief Election Commissioner Bhoj Raj Pokharel handed over the certificates to all the respective 25 parties.
Among the 335 seats of PR system, the Communist Party of Nepal -Maoist (CPN-M) has secured 100 seats. Nepali Congress bagged 73 seats followed by the CPN-UML with 70 seats.
Similarly, Madhesi Janadhikar Forum (MJF) and Terai Madhesh Democratic Party (TMDP) secured 22 and 11 seats respectively.
Addressing the press conference Pokhrel informed that the CA has 33.22 percent representation of women, 34.09 percent Madhesis, 8.17 percent Dalits, 33.39 percent Janajatis and 3.83 percent members from backward regions. Other groups have bagged 33.91 percent representation.
Pokhrel also said that the list of 574 elected candidates from the First-Past-The-Post (FPTP) and the PR system is due to be submit to Prime Minister and parliament secretariat later Thursday.
Other 26 members of the 601-member CA will be nominated by the council of ministers.
According to the provision in constitution, the Prime Minister has to call the first CA meeting within 21 days after the final announcement of the CA polls results.
