Finance Minister Dr Ram Sharan Mahat on Monday reiterated that the government is serious to make necessary arrangements of industrial security in the nation.
Inaugurating the 55th general assembly of Morang Business Association in Biratnagar, the finance minister said that the government is planning to enforce solid industrial security measures to safeguard the home industries as well as to attract foreign investments.
Minister Mahat accepted that the insecurity facing the nation's industries had an adverse impact on the entire national economy.
Reacting to the thrashing and manhandling of Sarada Group of Industries promoter Shyam Sundar Sarada by the Young Communist League and Maoist affiliated workers, he said that the government had taken the incident very seriously.
Stating that the government was committed towards security of businesspersons, Minister Mahat urged the business community not to launch strikes and other disruptive agitations over petty issues.
According to reports, the minister had directed chiefs of eastern security agencies to make necessary arrangements for maintaining industrial and social security in the region.
First deputy-chairman of the Federation of Nepalese Chamber of Commerce and Industries (FNCCI) Diwakar Golchha, central member Shankar Lal Agrawal, Morang Business Association's Jeevan Nepal, among others said that the industries were forced to shut down in absence of adequate security.
