Finance Minister Dr. Ram Sharan Mahat has urged India to withdraw ban on export of raw materials of construction works to Nepal. Minister Mahat today said that he made this request with the Indian Finance Minister P. Chidambaram.

Talking with the media persons upon his arrival at International Airport from Spain after he attended general assembly of Asian Development Bank (ADB),  minister Mahat said that he held discussions with his Indian counterpart Chitambaram about the Nepal-India trade relation. He also said that he held separate discussion with Chitambaram to request him on lifting the ban of raw materials related to construction works.

Following a few weeks, India has imposed ban on raw materials related to construction works and export of food stuffs following the food crisis seen in international market.

Minister Mahat also informed that Asian Development Bank (ADB) has increased its assistance to developing countries by 60 percent. He also informed that a fund amounting US dollar 500 million was to be raised to avert possible crisis in the developing countries triggered by food shortage and ballooning price in fuels.
